Icon stars LaShawn Merritt and Shawn Crawford closed out their season in fine form on Sunday, each turning in a top three finish at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix.

LaShawn took the 400m in a time of 45.28, marking another victory in an impressive undefeated season. TrackAlerts.com summed up the race:

LaShawn Merritt closed off a fine season with a solid run to win the men’s 400m dash and he now prepares for a well deserved six weeks rest before pre-season.

The American who won gold at the Beijing Olympics last summer and then repeated that performance at the World Championships in Berlin last month, clocked 45.28 to seal the win.

Meanwhile, Shawn bolted to a third-place finish in the 200m, crossing the line in 21.04. Again, as detailed by TrackAlerts.com:

With his nemesis, the super star, Usain Bolt, resting a long distance away in the Caribbean, Wallace Spearmon had it all his way in the 200m – the win in 20.57 with the recently retired, Kim Collins next in 20.90 and Shawn Crawford 3rd in 21.04.
