With his first run at a World Championship just a week away, Jeshua Anderson chased down another gold on Friday.

Jeshua got a final tune up in for the 400-meter hurdles at the World Championships this weekend in Daegu by competing at the World University Games in China over the weekend. But the competition was more than a tuneup and from the start of the week, JA was focused on the gold.

He set a blistering pace in the first heat of the first round, clocking a 49.78-second lap to lead the field. He was one of only two men to break the 50-second barrier in the preliminary heats. In the semifinal, Jeshua improved his time slightly, but took it easy, finishing in 49.72 seconds the fourth fastest time to qualify for the final.

In that final, Jeshua turned it up a notch, nearly breaking the 49-second barrier to finish in a scorching 49.03 seconds. He crossed the line nearly half a-second ahead of his closest competition for an easy victory and well-deserved gold.

Jeshua now turns his eyes toward the World Championships as he heads straight from China to South Korea to begin preparation. JA, the reigning U.S. Champion, is one of the favorites to capture the world crown in the 400-meter hurdles when the 13th IAAF World Championships commence from Daegu beginning this Saturday.

Heats for the 400mH are set for Monday, August 29th at 11:25 a.m. local time in Daegu, 7:25 p.m. on Sunday PDT.
