Hurdler Damu Cherry did Icon proud on Saturday, winning the 110m hurdles at the Oslo Bislett Games.

With the victory, Damu put herself right in the running for the IAAF Golden League jackpot with the first place finish. As related by Universal Sports:

Joining Richards and Isinbayeva as a double Golden League winner was American Damu Cherry. However unlike her victorious colleagues, Cherry avoids paying attention to the girls in other events.

“I try not to, that’s added pressure that you don’t need,” said Cherry who finished fourth at last year’s Beijing Olympics. “You just try to go out and execute every race and have a good time.”

Cherry, 31, ran a 12.68 beating Jamaica’s Brigitte Foster-Hylton by seven one-hundredths of a second.

“I knew that we had a lot of good hurdlers in this race so it wasn’t going to be easy,” she said. “But I’m happy especially after coming here after two hard days at U.S. championships.”

RESULTS FROM THE ATHLETISSIMA
LaShawn Merritt and Shawn Crawford ran the 200m Tuesday at the Athletissima in Lausanne, Switzerland. with LaShawn finishing second (20.41) and Shawn taking fourth (20.80). Both finished behind Usain Bolt, who turned in a 19.59 first place result.

Vonette Dixon took second in the 100m hurdles (12.93) while Ajoke Odumosu took sixth in the 400m hurdles (56.39).
